Located an hour north of Subdury, Halfway Lake made the list of favourite parks. Heading north in Ontario is becoming a new addiction, well worth the longer drives.
While most southern Ontario parks are packed with campers every weekend we’re on the hunt for a more desolate experience.
We arrived at Halfway Lake on a rainy weekday to find the park somewhat empty and quiet. While there was a number of sites booked
for the whole season,we didn’t see any of our neighbours arrive the whole time we were there.
We started our second day going on a 8km hike on the connecting Moose Ridge and Echo Pond Lake trails.
The trail looped around Echo Pond trail and ended with a lookout over the park.
The end of the hike leads to a lookout tower with stunning views of the area.
The park was so quiet we decided to extend our stay by another night.
